Company History

It all began in the early 1980s that Elprojektbyrån Möller & Olson AB needed a separate electrical application for electrical engineering construction, then to AutoCAD ver 1.2 and for internal use within the company. We were early with that kind of program and many other companies in the industry became very interested. We then decided to form a new company, PROCAD Systems AB for marketing, sales of the program and to distinguish it from the electrical business. The program was named ELPROCAD.

At ELFACK in the fall of 1985, the program was shown commercially for the first time. The program immediately received a good response for its work methodology. Initially, as a purely drawing program, program development continued with features for device lists 1986, automatic connection tables 1987, then in collaboration with Dikon Recognition Systems AB.

With AutoCAD’s popularity and increasing functionality, it also created new features in ELPROCAD, adapting to new operating, latest DOS, Windows, Sun.

Through a fruitful combination of professional experience in electrical engineering and qualified computer programming, the development of the program family continued.

When Autodesk introduced a cheaper version of its program, AutoCAD LT, the sale of AutoCAD LT together with ELPROCAD really boosted.

We also made an application to a CAD program called Generic Cadd, which was also widely distributed. This program was subsequently purchased by Autodesk.

In addition to our programs that work with AutoCAD / AutoCAD LT, we released 2004 a program that works with a built-in CAD engine (IntelliCAD / BricsCAD), namely ELPROCAD ic Basic and ELPROCAD ic Pro. They were intended for companies who wanted a complete program with both electrical application and CAD programs more integrated, at a good price.

So far, we had only programs for schematic writing, such as circuit diagram, main circuit diagram, external connection diagram, assembly drawing and single-line diagram. Over the years, we had received a lot of requests to make an application for installation drawings.

We decided on this in 2006 and after a very intensive development work, we released ELPROCAD ic Plan in 2008. The program allows the most common types of installation drawings, canalisation, power, lighting installations and telecommunications.

Now we had a complete program family for different types of electrical engineering and CAD platforms. In addition, we had programs with different functional levels for the different needs that companies have. Now you could really talk about the ELPROCAD family.

Now we continue the development of our program family to meet our customers’ current and future needs.

In 2015, we completed 30 years, while at the same time a change of ownership and generational change were made in the staff. So with new strengths, we continue to be the best friend of the electrician.
